Why can I not have an STI test the next day?

All infections take some time to be detectable in your body.  With the STIs we test for this ranges between 10 and 28 days depending on the STI and the testing method you choose.  The time starts from you incident of concern ( which could be when you had sex with a new partner, or had a blood injury) and the time of your appointment.

If your incubation period has been under 28 days, please call our friendly sexual health advisors, they will be able to suggest the right early test for you or book your in for when you have passed the incubation period if you prefer.

Some early tests are a little bit more expensive and the results may take a day or two longer, so please call us so that we can help with the options.
