Product Information

Why should I consider a calcium test?

Symptoms indicative of calcium deficiency (hypocalcaemia) can include stomach pains, fatigue, loss of appetite, muscle cramps, numbness or tingling in the fingers, and dermatitis.

Your levels of calcium could also be above normal (hypercalcaemia). Symptoms of hypercalcaemia can include stomach pain, nausea, tiredness, loss of appetite, increased thirst, diarrhoea, and other symptoms.

You should consider our calcium test if you are experiencing symptoms that might suggest either too much or too little calcium in your body. Better2Know's calcium test is also suitable if you are concerned about your dietary intake of calcium, as our test will give a quick and accurate indication of your calcium status.

What happens if calcium deficiency is left untreated?

If untreated, calcium deficiency can lead to osteoporosis in adults or rickets in children.

How can calcium deficiency be tested?

You will need to provide a small blood sample, which is collected from you rarm by a trained clinician. Once we have your sample, it will be sent to our accredited country laboratory for analysis.

How will I receive my results?

Your calcium test results will be available the same working day from the receipt of your samples arrival at our fully accredited country laboratory. You can view your results at any time by logging into the Better2Know websites secure patient area. Your login details will be given to you by our Patient Services team when you book your test. When your confidential test results are ready, a Better2Know advisor will contact you.

What should I do if my calcium levels are abnormal?

If the results of your calcium test reveal abnormal levels, you should seek medical advice. Speaking with a doctor will allow them to find the most appropriate course of treatment for your condition.
