Three Reasons to Choose this Herpes Test
This Better2Know Herpes Blood Test will tell you if you have Herpes 1,2, neither or both. You do not need to have symptoms to take this test
This test is designed for anyone who thinks that they might have the Herpes Simplex Virus
The test detects The Herpes IgG antibodies, or immune proteins, that your body produces in response to a viral infection, shown after the incubation period of 4-6 weeks
Is this Herpes test accurate?
Yes, this is an accurate test that allows you to test for Herpes Simplex Virus types I and II from the comfort and privacy of your own home. This is a blood test which means it is very accurate when you do not have any symptoms. If you are not sure which STI you may have or are concerned about a risky encounter, we recommend the Full Screen which also tests for a range of other STIs including HIV, Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea.
How does this Herpes test work?
This is a blood test that you collect from home with the kit provided. After you have bought your test online, we will post your discreet Herpes test pack to your home (the postal pack is plain so no one will know what it is). Open the pack, where you will find a form, three finger prick lancets, a small gold-topped tube, wipes, a sample collection guide, and a return envelope. The sample collection guide will give you instructions on how to collect your sample. It is important that you follow the instructions on the leaflet carefully. You will get an email when your results are ready, but you can log on and check online whenever you like.
When will my Herpes test arrive?
If you order a Herpes test before 4pm Monday to Friday, we will post it to you first class post same day. Depending upon where you live, your Herpes test should arrive the next working day or the day after.
How long before I get my Herpes test result?
The results of your Herpes test should be ready within two working days from when your sample arrives at the laboratory.
What happens if my Herpes test is positive?
We can help you with any support that you need. There is no cure for herpes, but the symptoms can be managed with medication. We can arrange an appointment with a Doctor so that you can discuss the results and get a prescription for the required medication (there will be a small fee for this), or you can take your results to your own GP.
Is testing through Better2Know confidential?
Yes. Your results and details are 100% confidential and we will not inform your GP or anyone without your permission.
How long should I wait after an encounter before getting a Herpes test?
You should wait at least 28 days since any incident you are concerned about before getting a Herpes test if you have not had any symptoms. If you test before this time, the Herpes test may not be as accurate as it can be.
