  • For women experiencing vaginal itching, burning during urination, and/or unusual vaginal discharge

When should I get a Bacterial Vaginosis test?

Your vagina should maintain a healthy balance of flora to stay healthy. When there is an imbalance of bacteria in the vagina, symptoms like an unpleasant “fishy” odour, unusual vaginal discharge, vaginal itching, and/or burning during urination can occur. This test may help to understand the causes and is useful if you have not had any recent sexual contact.

What does a BV test detect?

Better2Know’s Bacterial Vaginosis test detects the levels of bacteria in your vagina that can cause the condition.

Should I be concerned about having BV?

Bacterial Vaginosis can usually be treated with a short course of antibiotics. The treatment you are prescribed will depend on your symptoms, if you are pregnant, or if you have been diagnosed with another sexually transmitted infection.

What can I expect during my appointment?

Your appointment at your Better2Know sexual health clinic will take about 15 minutes. Your medical professional will take a swab of your vagina. Your sample will then be sent to our accredited laboratory for testing.

How can I book a BV test?
