What is the Better2Know HIV Viral Load test?
This test is for HIV positive people to measure the amount of the virus in their blood. HIV specialists often use it to understand the impact of any changes to your drug regime and can give reassurance about whether your viral load is undetectable which means you cannot pass the virus on to a new partner. Please do not change your medication as a result of this test without consulting with a doctor.
What samples are needed for this test?
This test uses a single blood sample. When you arrive at a Better2Know sexual health clinic for your appointment, a medical professional will take your blood sample and send it to our accredited laboratory to be analysed. Your appointment should last around 10-15 minutes.
What should I do with my test results?
After you get your test results, you should discuss the results with your HIV doctor who will be able to advise on the right steps for you.
