What is the Comprehensive Thyroid Test?
This is a comprehensive test that will provide a comprehensive overview of your thyroid health and functioning. It will measure levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxine (FT4), as well as additional tests for thyroglobulin (TgAb), thyroid peroxidase (TPO), and free thyroxin 3 (FT3).
Abnormal levels could indicate an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). This is caused when the body does not produce enough of the thyroid hormones, resulting in the metabolism slowing down and the emergence of symptoms such as tiredness, feeling cold, and weight gain.

How does this test work?
This test requires a blood sample to be collected by a nurse or trained medical professional. Once your nurse has collected your blood sample, place it in the postage-paid envelope provided and return it to our accredited laboratory for analysis.
What tests will be run on my sample?

Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). This controls the production of two thyroid hormones: thyroxine and triiodothyronine.
Free thyroxine (FT4). An inactive hormone that controls the rate of metabolism.
Free thyroxin 3 (FT3). An active hormone that controls the rate of metabolism.
Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TgAb). A high level can indicate a thyroid condition.
Thyroid peroxidase (TPO). An enzyme that plays an important role in the production of thyroid hormones.
When will my test kit arrive?
