What is a Diabetes Diagnostic Test?
This test measures your blood sugar levels to identify whether you may be at risk of diabetes. Diabetes occurs when your blood sugar levels are too high and can lead to further health complications including heart and kidney problems. It is important to identify diabetes as early as possible.

This test needs a blood sample collected by a nurse. Once your sample has been collected, place it in the envelope provided and send it to our accredited laboratory for efficient analysis.
What tests will be run on my sample?
This test will assess the following:
Blood glucose. This test measures your blood sugar levels.
HbA1c. This test for glycosylated haemoglobin assesses how controlled your blood glucose levels have been over the last 3 months.
When will my test kit arrive?

How will I receive my test results?

What should I do with my results?
If your test reveals you have raised blood glucose levels and are at the stage described as pre-diabetic, you should see a doctor as soon as possible. Medication can be prescribed, and further testing may be recommended to ensure the success of treatment. It is possible to lower blood glucose levels by making lifestyle changes.
