What is the Thyroid Test?
The Better2Know Thyroid Test examines your thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxine (FT4) levels, which tell us about your thyroid’s health and function. If you are experiencing hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), your TSH will be high and your FT4 will be low.
When thyroid hormone production is low, hypothyroidism occurs. As a result, your metabolism slows, and you experience symptoms including weight gain, tiredness, and feeling cold.
Better2Know will diagnose you with overactive or underactive thyroid if your test results show concerning TSH or FT4 levels.

How does the Thyroid Test work?
You will receive a test kit including tools to collect a blood sample. Once you collect your blood sample by carefully following the instructions provided, you will use the kit’s pre-paid envelope to send your sample to one of our certified Ireland labs for analysis and testing.
What tests are run on my blood sample?
The Thyroid Test will assess:
Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). This manages thyroxine and triiodothyronine production.
Free thyroxine (FT4). This hormone manages your metabolic rate and assists in examining general thyroid function.
When would my home test kit arrive?
When you order your kit before 4pm on a weekday, the package will be dispatched that same day. You should receive it in 2 to 4 days via An Post. If you would like to track your package, you can select International Delivery at checkout.
How will I get my test results?
Within one workday after we receive your sample, your confidential results will be ready. A member of our team will notify you directly once they become available, but you can also access your secure patient portal on our website at any time, where your results will be listed as soon as they are ready.
What do I do with my results?
If your results exhibit signs of an underactive or overactive thyroid, we recommend you speak with a doctor. Better2Know can arrange a consultation with a private doctor in your area to further discuss your results and potential next steps, or you can visit your GP.
