Which STIs does the Blemish Screen test for?
Better2Know’s Blemish Screen combines testing for:
Syphilis
Herpes I/II
HPV
This test is appropriate for anyone that has a bump, blister, sore or blemish that is causing concern.
Is the Blemish Screen accurate?
The pathology for your home test is performed in a highly certified laboratory, ensuring accurate and efficient results. All Better2Know’s tests are CE marked to give you peace of mind regarding the quality of our service.
How does this STI screen work?
Your Better2Know Blemish Screen will require swab samples of the affected area. Your home testing kit will contain a pathology form, 2 PCR swabs and a postage paid return envelope. Packaging is plain to protect your privacy. We will send you a sample collection guide; it is important that you read and follow these instructions carefully.
When will my test arrive?
Home tests which are ordered before 4pm, Monday to Friday, will be sent out to you on the very same day. Your kit should arrive within 2 to 5 working days, depending on your location in Ireland.
How long before I get my results?
Once our certified laboratory has received your samples, your confidential results will be available within 5 working days. One of our trained sexual health advisors will contact you as soon as all your results are available and you can keep track of your results via our secure, online patient area. Simply log in to view your results when it is convenient for you to do so.
What does my result mean?
If your results are positive for Syphilis, you should visit a doctor to discuss confirmation testing and any treatment, or if any further testing that should be done. This test cannot distinguish between a past and current or new infection and so you would need to have a confirmation test. Better2Know can connect you with a private doctor in your local area, or you can visit your own GP.
Is testing for STIs through Better2Know confidential?
Better2Know will not share your details, or your results, with a third party without your permission, unless the law requires us to do so.
How long should I wait after an encounter before getting the Blemish Screen?
Better2Know’s Blemish Screen is available to those suffering from symptoms such as itching, redness, sores, lesions, bumps and blisters. No period of incubation is necessary for this screen.
