Is this Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea test accurate?
This is an accurate swab test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea. It will tell you whether you have chlamydia, gonorrhoea, neither or both. You may have a chlamydia and/or gonorrhoea infection in your rectum or anus if you have received anal sex from someone who has one or both of these infections. The infections are localised, so a urine test will not detect whether or not you have an infection in your rectum. The only way to know is to get tested.
How does a Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea swab test work?
For this test you take a swab of your rectum using the kit provided. It is very quick, easy and painless to take a swab and we provide step-by-step instructions on how to do it.
After you have bought your test online, we will post a discreet test kit to your home or chosen address by post. The postal packaging is plain so no one will know what it is. Open the pack and you will find a lab form, a swab taking kit, a pre-paid return envelope and a copy of the sample collection instruction leaflet. It is important that you follow the instructions on the leaflet carefully. You will get an email or text message to tell you when your results are ready, but you can also log on to our secure website's Patient Area and check your results at a time to suit you.
When will my test arrive?
If you order a test kit before 4pm Monday to Friday, we will post it to you by first class post on the same day. Your test kit should arrive within 2 - 5 working days.
How long before I get my results?
Results for this test are normally available within 2 working days from when your sample arrives at the laboratory.
What happens if my test is positive ?
If you would like us to, we can arrange an appointment with a Better2Know doctor so that you can discuss the results and get a prescription for the required medication. There will be a small fee for this. If you prefer, you can take your results to your own clinic or GP.
Is testing through Better2Know confidential?
Yes. Your results and details are 100% confidential and we will not inform your GP or anyone else without your permission.
How long should I wait after sex before getting a Gonorrhoea & Chlamydia swab test?
Typically, you should wait 2 weeks since your last risky encounter before getting tested. This is because the test will not usually detect Gonorrhoea & Chlamydia until 2 weeks have passed since infection.
