Product Information

Which STIs does the Early Detection Screen test for?

  • HIV

  • Hepatitis B

  • Hepatitis C

This screen can be ordered online at any time. You should arrange for your medical practitioner to collect your sample no earlier than day 10 after the incident that you are concerned about.

What will my test kit include?

Inside your test kit, you will find:

  • Two purple-topped blood collection tubes and protective case

  • A needle and holder

  • Pre-blood draw antiseptic wipe and plaster

  • A pathology form

  • A pre-paid return envelope

  • A full set of instructions.

How does this screen work?

Once you have ordered your test kit, we will send it to you by first class post. Alternatively, you can opt for our Special Delivery option at the checkout. Please ensure that you read the instructions carefully. You should then arrange to have your venous blood sample collected by a qualified practitioner. After your sample has been taken, please return it to the laboratory using the pre-paid envelope included in your kit, in accordance with the instructions provided.

This is a Nurse Kit, which requires a qualified medical practitioner to collect a blood sample from your arm. To do this, you may attend your local clinic or ask a trained nurse. Alternatively, Better2Know can arrange a convenient nurse visit for you. This may incur an additional fee.

When will my test kit arrive?

If you order your test kit before 4pm between Monday and Friday, we will post your kit to you on the same day. The kit should arrive either the next working day or the following day.

How will I receive my results?

As soon as our laboratory has processed your sample, we will upload your results to your secure online patient area. You can track the progress of your results at any time by logging into your patient area with the details provided in your confirmation email. We will email you to let you know when all your results are ready to view.

Is testing with Better2Know confidential?

All testing with Better2Know is private and confidential. We will never share your personal data, or information about your tests or results, without your permission.

What should I do with my results?

If your results are positive for HIV, you should visit a doctor to discuss confirmation testing and any treatment, or any further testing that should be done. This test cannot distinguish between a past and current or new infection, so you would need to have a confirmation test. Better2Know can connect you with a private doctor in your local area, or you can visit your own GP.
