Is this Herpes test accurate?

The Better2Know Herpes test is a very accurate CE quality marked test. It allows you to test for Herpes Types I and II from the comfort and privacy of your home. This is a blood test so it is the most accurate Herpes test, and you can take the test even if you do not have any Herpes symptoms. The test result will show you whether or not you have Herpes Type 1 and/or Type 2.

If you are not sure which STI you may have or you are concerned about a risky encounter, we suggest you choose our Full STI Screen which tests for a range of sexually transmitted infections including Herpes.

How does this Herpes test work?

The Herpes test requires a small blood sample which you collect from home using the kit provided.

On completion of your online order, Better2Know will post a discreet Herpes test pack to the address you provide. The kit is sent in plain packaging so no one will know what it is). Inside your pack, you will have a form, finger-prick lancets, a small tube, wipes and a return envelope. In addition, we will send you a copy of the sample collection instruction leaflet. The leaflet will give you step-by-step instructions on how to collect your sample. It is important that you follow the instructions carefully. As soon as your results are ready you will get an email to let you know, but you can also log on and check online at your convenience.

When will my Herpes test kit arrive?

Place your order for a Herpes test before 4pm Monday to Friday and we will post it out to you on the same day. Your Herpes test will normally arrive between 2 - 5 working days, but may take a little longer depending on where you live.

How long before I get my Herpes test result?

The results of your Herpes test should be ready within 3 working days from the arrival of your sample at our laboratory.

What happens if my test result is positive?

Better2Know can help you with any support that you need. There is no cure for Herpes but any symptoms can be managed with medication. We can arrange a consultation by telephone with a doctor so that you can discuss the results and get a prescription for the required medication (there will be a small fee for this), or you can take your results to your own doctor.

Is testing through Better2Know confidential?

Your results and details are completely confidential. We will not inform your doctor or anyone else without your permission.

How long should I wait after an encounter before getting a Herpes test?

For the most accurate result, you should wait at least 28 days since any incident you are concerned about before getting a Herpes test. If you test before this time, the Herpes test may not be as accurate as it can be.
