What is the Instant testing process?
Better2Know’s trained Patient Services team will provide guidance and support throughout your patient journey, from the moment that you make an enquiry about a booking. We will remain at your disposal until you have been tested, diagnosed and have received the treatment that you require. Your experienced advisor will answer any questions you may have, and will arrange your confidential appointment at a time and date that suits you.
After arriving at our private STI clinic, a qualified nurse or clinician will explain your Instant screen before taking the necessary samples. The Better2Know Instant Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea Screen requires swab samples, so there are no fasting or dietary requirements necessary. Fow women, a vaginal swab is required and for men a urethral swab is needed. Your private clinician or nurse will either collect the sample for you or will ask you to self swab. Your clinician will then conduct the testing whilst you wait in the clinic waiting room, and results will be available shortly after.
When will I get my results?
The confidential results of your Instant Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea Screen will be ready in under 30 minutes, after you have given your samples. What happens if I test positive?
Should your Instant screen for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea be positive for either or both infections, Better2Know’s clinic will provide a private prescription for the required medication, directly, at no extra cost to you. The prescribed medication usually consists of a short course of antibiotics. For Gonorrhoea infections, you may have a single antibiotic injection followed by one or more antibiotic tablets. In some instances, it is possible to have a second tablet instead of an injection, should you prefer. Some Gonorrhoea infections may be resistant to antibiotics; therefore, it is recommended to have another Gonorrhoea test two weeks after you finish your medication to ensure the STI has cleared. Chlamydia infections are also treated with a short course of antibiotics and your Better2Know doctor will prescribe the medication required.
