Better2Know Instant Peace of Mind Screen
The Better2Know Instant Peace of Mind Screen combines fast, accurate testing for three of the UK’s most common sexually transmitted infections: Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea and Syphilis. The screen is suitable for those who have achieved a minimum incubation period of two weeks and uses blood and swab samples to detect infection. With Better2Know’s Instant tests and screens, you will have your STI results less than 30 minutes after providing your sample.
What samples are required for my Instant Peace of Mind Screen?
This Instant Peace of Mind Screen requires both a blood and swab sample to run. The blood sample is for the Syphilis test, whilst the swabs are needed for the Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea tests. Usually, the blood sample can be taken from a small finger prick, so this makes the Instant Peace of Mind Screen particularly suitable for anyone who does not like needles. The Swab samples are taken from the vagina in the case of women, and from the urethra in the case of men
What is the Instant testing process?
With Instant testing availability at selected clinics nationwide, we can get you an appointment at a private clinic that is convenient for you. Your tests will be conducted by a qualified medical practitioner, who will explain your test, collect your blood and swab samples, and perform the pathology. Your blood sample will be collected via a finger prick lancet.
When will I get my results?
The Better2Know Instant Peace of Mind Screen provides rapid results for Chlamydia, Syphilis and Gonorrhoea. The pathology is performed whilst you wait in our private clinic and you will receive your highly accurate and strictly confidential results within 30 minutes of being tested. Upon completion, you will be given a signed and completed copy of the test report, as a record of your screen.
What happens if I test positive?
If your Instant Peace of Mind Screen returns a positive result for Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea, you will be provided with a prescription for the medication you require. Both infections can be treated with antibiotics, though in some instances Gonorrhoea has proved resistant to the medication, making early detection all the more important. It is also advisable to have a ‘test of cure’ two weeks after your treatment is complete to ensure the infection has cleared from your system. Syphilis is also curable, with the type of treatment being dependent on the length of time you have hosted the infection. If your Instant Peace of Mind Screen is reactive for Syphilis, you will be entitled to free, confirmatory testing. We can also arrange referrals, if necessary, as well as a doctor’s consultation either before your test or following your results. You can also show your results to your personal doctor or healthcare provider.
