Better2Know Instant Six Screen
Better2Know’s Instant Six Screen provides rapid STI test results for six common sexually transmitted infections. These include HIV, Chlamydia, Syphilis, Gonorrhoea and Hepatitis B and C. This comprehensive screening option is suitable for those who have achieved at least four weeks, or 28 days, of incubation. The incubation period is the time between the incident you are concerned about and testing for infection.
Please ensure you discuss your incubation period with your advisor as Instant HIV Tests can vary.
The Better2Know’s Instant Six screen has been put together by our sexual health specialists to give you a fast and highly accurate picture of your STI status.
What samples are required for my Instant Six Screen?
This Instant Six screen requires both blood and swab samples to run. The blood samples are for the HIV, Hepatitis B and C and Syphilis tests, whilst the swabs are needed for the Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea tests. Usually, the blood samples can be taken from a small finger prick, so this makes the Instant Six screen particularly suitable for anyone who does not like needles. The Swab samples are taken from the vagina in the case of women, and from the urethra in the case of men
What is the Instant testing process?
You can book your Instant Six Screen online or over the phone. It is entirely up to you. Our expert Patient Services team can schedule your appointment at a private clinic of your choice. Our qualified nurse or clinician at your appointment will explain the Instant testing process to you before collecting both your swab and blood samples for analysis. With a Better2Know Instant test or screen, the testing is performed whilst you wait in the clinic. You will receive your results shortly after being tested.
When will I get my results?
The confidential results of your Instant Six Screen will be presented within half an hour of your test. You will also be given a signed and completed copy of the Better2Know Rapid Test Results Report, to be used for your personal records.
What happens if any of my Instant tests are positive?
Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea infections are both curable with the right course of treatment. We are able to provide you with a prescription for the necessary medication should you test positive for either infection. If your Instant Six Screen is reactive for HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C, you will be eligible for additional, confirmatory testing, free of charge.
Your attending clinician will explain any reactive result to you and will then collect, with your permission, a further venous blood sample from your arm. This additional blood sample will be sent to our laboratory for further confirmatory testing. You will get those results within a day or two of the sample arriving at our lab. With a network of experienced doctors across the UK, we can also schedule private consultations either before your Instant test or following your results. Alternatively, you can take your results to your own doctor or sexual health provider.
How accurate is my Instant Six screen?
After the appropriate incubation period has elapsed, your Instant Six screen is 99% accurate. Better2Know’s private STI screens and screens are regularly reviewed by our panel of medical experts, so you can rest assured that you are receiving the most up-to-date instant STI screen available.
