A Trichomonas infection can be easily spread through sexual contact between men and women, women and women and men and men. This infection seems to affect women more than men, but both can catch it.
Trichomonas is one of the most common Sexually Transmitted infections around the world and the most common non-viral STI. Infection with Trichomonas is called Trichomoniasis or simply “Trich”. It is spread mostly from unprotected sex and by sharing sex toys which have not been properly cleaned after use.
Why consider a Trichomonas test?
A Trichomonas infection requires treatment as it will no go away on its own. Most people who have a Trichomonas infection will not have any symptoms so will not necessarily know that they are carrying the infection.
