Which STIs does the Wellbeing Screen test for?
The Better2Know Wellbeing Screen is a home test for:
HIV
Chlamydia
Gonorrhoea
Is the test accurate?
This high accuracy test kit contains a blood test for HIV (99.8% 28 days after any incident you are concerned about, rising to 99.9% after 3 months) and urine test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea.
If you are not sure which STI you may have, or are concerned about a sexual encounter you have had, then our Full STI Screen is recommended as along with the tests above it also tests for other sexually transmitted infections including Hepatitis B and Syphilis.
How does testing work?
The Better2Know Wellbeing Screen is a blood and urine test and the kit contains all the equipment you need to collect your samples at home easily. Once you have placed your order we will post a discreet test pack to the address you provide.
The postal pack is plain so no one will know what it is. Inside the pack you will find a form, 3 finger-prick lancets, tubes for blood and urine, a urine collection container, wipes and a return envelope. In addition, we will send you a copy of the sample collection instruction leaflet. The leaflet will give you full step-by-step instructions on how to collect your samples. It is very important that you follow the instructions on the leaflet carefully.
As soon as your results are available you will get an email or text message, you can also check securely online using the unique PIN and password provided whenever you like.
When will my test arrive?
Order your test before 4pm Monday to Friday and we will post it out to you first class on the same day. Your test kit will normally arrive in 2-5 working days - delivery times may vary depending on where you live.
How long before I get my results?
The results of your Wellbeing Screen should be available within 3 working days from when your sample arrives at the laboratory.
What does my result mean?
If your results are positive for HIV, you should visit a doctor to discuss confirmation testing, treatment and any further testing that should be done. This test cannot distinguish between a past, current or new infection so you would need to have a confirmation test. Better2Know can connect you with a private doctor in your local area, or you can visit your own GP.
If your Chlamydia and / or Gonorrhoea test is positive, we can arrange an appointment with a Better2Know doctor so that you can discuss the results and get a prescription for the required medication (there will be a small fee for this) or you can take your results to your own GP.
Is testing through Better2Know confidential?
Yes, your test results and your details are completely confidential. We will not inform your doctor or anyone without your permission.
How long should I wait after potential exposure before getting a Wellbeing Screen?
You should wait 28 days since your potential exposure before having a Wellbeing Screen. You can buy the test kit whenever you like, but you should not collect your samples until this time.
