What happens at my HPV test?
An HPV test is a swab test. For Cervical Cancer we need a cervical swab which will be collected by a health care professional. You will be asked to undress from the waist down and be given a modesty cover. Your doctor or nurse will explain the position it is best to lie in which is usually on your back with your knees bent and then relax them to each side. You may also be asked to put your hands under your back to help to tilt your cervix. The appointment takes around 20 minutes. A genital wart test needs a swab of the suspected wart, and you can self-collect this sample if you would prefer.
