British National Survey of Sexual Attitudes

• The average number of partners for people aged 16 to 44 is 11.7 for men and 7.7 for women (men have fallen since the last survey from 12.6, where as women have increased form 6.5).  The survey does not explain where the men found the extra women!
• The percentage of people who said they have had a same sex experience is growing for women (16%) where as men is more stable (7%)
• The average number of times people have sex is now less than one per week
• In the last yest, 90% of people aged 25 to 34 have had vaginal intercourse, 80% have had oral sex, and 17% have had anal sex with someone of the opposite sex
• For heterosexual couples- anal sex was most popular in 16 to 24 year olds
• Of those people who took part in the survey aged 16 to 44, 1% had Chlamydia (5% of those aged 18 and 19).  HPV was the most common STI in the tests
• HIV testing is becoming more common, especially in women, and with both sexes who had more than one partner in the last five years.  40% of people who had more than 10 partners in the last five years had had an HIV test.

The survey shows that women are developing a more experimental approach to their sex lives with more partners and different types of  intercourse.  They are more responsible in getting tested for STIs and HIV.
