STI themed cupcakes for sale in London

The cupcakes were sold at St Bartholomew’s Hospital Pathology Museum in London, for their three day Eat Your Heart Out 2012 Event. These vanilla and chocolate sponge cupcakes are decorated by ‘anatomically correct’ icing which shows the effects of STIs such as herpes and syphilis.

The cupcakes are from Emma Thomas, aka Miss Cakehead, a freelance creative director whose previous projects – which include selling ‘human body parts’ at a meat market for a Resident Evil 6 advertising campaign – prove she isn’t one to shy away from controversy. Made to raise awareness of safe sex and STIs, these not-so-appetising cupcakes could only be bought in a lucky dip, to symbolise the danger of unprotected sex with a stranger.

If you have had unprotected sex and participated in the ‘lucky’ dip of STIs, it is very important to get tested so you can get treatment for any STIs you may have contracted. Better2Know do a range of STI tests at our clinics across the UK and you will get your results back within one to five days. Unless you want the cupcake icing to become a reality, get tested and treated!
